Chelsea closing in on surprise deal for Premier League youngster | Shoot

Chelsea are once again set to be one of the Premier League’s busiest clubs during the current transfer window.

The Blues have spent huge amounts since being taken over by Todd Boehly and Clearlake in the summer of 2022, following the departure of previous owner Roman Abramovich.

In total the West London club have forked out in excess of £1 billion in the two years since the takeover, but their spending isn’t likely to stop any time soon.

Chelsea will, however, have to sell players this summer in order to spend more without breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.

It appears, though, that the London side are closing in on the signing of a Premier League youngster.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are close to completing a move for Aston Villa teenager Omari Kellyman.

Kellyman looks set to join Chelsea in the coming days

The 18-year-old is regarded as one of the most promising talents in Villa’s under-21s side, but Chelsea are said to be hopeful of finalising a move for the player on Sunday.

Kellyman, who can play in a number of roles including central midfield, on the flank, and as a forward, has played six times for the Villans at first team level.

He provided an assist on his debut for the club, during a 3-0 win over Scottish side Hibernian in Europa League qualifying.

Romano claims that Chelsea have agreed a fee of £19 million with Villa for the player, with personal terms now being discussed.

The player himself is believed to be keen on the idea of a move to Stamford Bridge, suggesting that a deal will be straight forward to complete.

In 2022, Chelsea signed Carney Chukwuemeka from Villa at a time when the Englishman was one of the club’s most promising young players.
