Chelsea quoted £50 million for ex-Fulham star | Shoot

Chelsea are set to be one of the Premier League’s busiest clubs during this summer’s transfer window.

The Blues have spent more than £1 billion on new signings since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital took control of the club in the summer of 2022, although they didn’t sign anyone during the most recent January window.

With new head coach Enzo Maresca taking charge, the West London side are likely to look to bolster the Italian’s squad this summer, but they are said to have been quoted a staggering amount for one of their targets.

As per Italian outlet Calciomercato via The Express, Chelsea have been informed that Atalanta star Ademola Lookman will cost around £50 million.

It is claimed that Chelsea are considering alternative targets after missing out on Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise, who is set to join Bayern Munich.

Former Charlton Athletic man Lookman, 26, has emerged as a potential target but the Blues are likely to be deterred by the potential cost of a move for the player.

Lookman scored 17 goals last season

Lookman joined Atalanta from German side RB Leipzig in 2022, having previously spent time in the Premier League with both Leicester City and Fulham.

Since moving to Italy he has scored 32 goals and provided 18 assists in 78 appearances across all competitions, including a remarkable hat-trick as Atalanta beat Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final.

As well as the Blues, fellow Premier League sides Liverpool and Manchester United are also said to be interested in the Nigeria international.

Lookman primarily operates centrally but can also play on the left of a front three.

The Nigerian’s current contract with Atalanta is set to run until the end of the 2025/26 season, which puts the Italian outfit in a commanding position during any negotiations this summer.
