Man United offer for La Liga star rejected | Shoot

Manchester United will welcome Fulham to Old Trafford on the opening day of the 2024/25 Premier League season.

The Red Devils are set to be managed by Erik ten Hag next season, despite the Dutchman guiding them to an eighth-placed finish in the top flight last term.

It had been widely reported that Ten Hag would be dismissed regardless of the result in May’s FA Cup final against rivals Manchester City, but a 2-1 win over the Premier League champions at Wembley appears to have saved the former Ajax boss his job.

Now, it appears that United are working to sign a new midfielder.

The Red Devils have had an initial offer for Barcelona star Fermin Lopez rejected, according to Spanish outlet Marca via 90min.

Lopez has emerged as a target for Manchester United

The report claims that United have offered a fee of £25.4 million to Barcelona for the 21-year-old, but the Catalan giants have rejected the bid.

Lopez is a product of Barcelona’s youth academy and enjoyed a fine breakthrough season in the senior side last term, having spent the previous campaign on loan at fellow Spanish side Linares.

Last season he made 42 appearances across all competitions, scoring 11 goals and providing one assist.

It is claimed that Barcelona have no intentions of selling Lopez, who is contracted to the club until the summer of 2027.

United are said to be in the market for a new midfielder, and the versatility of Lopez could appeal to Ten Hag as he is able to operate on the left flank too.

Lopez is currently on international duty with Spain at the European Championships in Germany, although he was unused substitute during their 3-0 win over Croatia on Saturday.
